“We need to pledge ourselves anew to the cause of Christ. We must capture the spirit of the early church. Wherever the early Christians went, they made a triumphant witness for Christ. Whether on the village streets or in the city jails, they daringly proclaimed the good news of the gospel.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
I think that the power of the gospel message is underappreciated and underused in most Church circles today. Often "we" are motivated by doing good works where we can see the physical results. So, our church activity is filled with good works. We do good works for each other and we pursue the good of those that are outside the church walls. I appreciate the effort...however, good works separated from the good news of the gospel will fizzle out or get off track. To maintain the integrity of good works, we must center those works on that which is truly and purely good. So, let us hit the streets with good works in our hands and the good message on our tongue.
